The best books are definitely Making Faces and Face Forward by Kevyn Aucoin. They are big books with full-color photographs and step-by-step, illustrated instructions on how to achieve the looks for yourself. I couldn't live with them. you can go to marykay.com/rgeorgoulias and do a virtual make over and they can show you how to do apply make up and which color is compatible with your skin.

Bobbi Brown has a couple of books that are great. I personally like brown eyes with a soft brown liner or even a very subtle deep purple liner. Nothing really dark.

Try Beauty Riot ( a web site). Basically, all cocoa shades or olive green eye shadows are OK for you (and some violet too), and peach or pink lip gloss.
I have a different idea - Go to one of the major department stores that sell cosmetics. Walk around until you find someone behind the counter whose makeup you like. Ask them tho help you. Another place you can go is to Merle Norman as they will teach you how makeup is applied. Note of caution: Everyone has their own idea of what looks good so don't let anyone talk you into something you don't like.
If you go on sephora.com and click beauty central there is how to videos for makeup and lots of tips and stuff. You should wear brown eyeshadow and brown mascara.
